About me

I am a licensed clinical psychologist registered with the HPCSA, specializing in assessment and psychotherapy. I work with individuals, couples, families, and groups, helping them navigate a range of psychological challenges.

I completed my BA and BA Honours (Philosophy & Psychology) at Wits University, and my MA in Clinical Psychology at the University of Johannesburg. My Master’s dissertation was a psychoanalytic psychobiography of Holocaust survivor and author Elie Wiesel. Using a lifespan and developmental lens, I explored how Wiesel’s early trauma as an adolescent in the Holocaust shaped his internal world and sense of moral responsibility across his life. The study traced his psychological movement from profound despair to a reengagement with meaning, faith, and purpose in old age — a journey that continues to inform how I think about trauma, resilience, and the human spirit.

Experience & Interests

My clinical work has been grounded in several years of service in the public mental health sector, including community clinics, district, and psychiatric hospitals. These settings offered rich and often intense experiences, and deepened my commitment to working with serious mental illness such as psychosis, bipolar disorder, and complex depression. I also have a strong interest in the psychological intersections between spiritual life, identity, and emotional suffering – including religious or existential crises and self-harm.

Alongside individual work, I have a strong interest in group therapy. Groups offer a uniquely powerful space for reflection and growth – a setting where relational patterns come to the surface and where participants can encounter themselves in new ways through others. I am currently undergoing further training in group analysis with the Centre for Group Analytic Studies (CGAS), which draws on psychoanalytic thinking and systems theory to understand the individual within the context of the group. I see group work as a vital part of the therapeutic landscape, particularly for those navigating interpersonal struggles or a sense of disconnection.

While I have extensive experience with severe psychiatric conditions, I’m equally invested in depth-oriented therapy with individuals seeking to understand themselves more fully and take meaningful ownership of their lives. I believe therapy is ultimately a space not just for symptom relief, but for reclaiming agency, integrating difficult experiences, and moving toward a more honest and engaged way of being.
